School Advisory Council

The School Advisory Council (SAC) is composed of the principal and a balanced number of elected teachers, education support employees, students, and parents, along with appointed business and community representatives, who represent the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by Washington Shores Elementary School.

SAC meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:00 PM in the media center.

Purpose of SAC:

  • Identify ways to help improve student performance.

  • Developing and Evaluating the School Improvement Plan (SIP)

  • Assist the Principal in preparation of the School Budget

  • Provide Guidance, Advice, Advocacy

Composition of SAC:

  • Representative group of teachers, parents, administrators, and community members.

  • Principal must be a member.

  • Racial/Ethnic make-up of SAC must reflect the make-up of student population.

  • Majority of SAC must be non-school employees.

Finance / Grants, how it works:

  • Council determines distribution of funds to support approved grant requests.

  • Grant requests come from teachers.

  • Committee reviews

  • Committee recommends to full SAC monthly

  • SAC discusses and votes
